(Her maiden surname is technically the feminine form Kaminska. The masculine form Kaminski is used above so that she will turn up in searches under that more common form of the name in the US.) Martha Kaminski Kleen was born in Fordon, which was at the time of her birth a town in the state of Posen in Germany. It later became part of a restored Poland and later still was incorporated into the city of Bydgoszcz. In 1912 she came to Minnesota with her sister, Helene, with the support of her uncle, Julian Bilski, who had immigrated in 1909. In Minnesota she changed her surname to Kamm. She met and married Bernhard W. Kleen in Brookings Co., SD, but they spent most of their married life in Minnesota.
In the list below, family members are identified by both the German and the Polish forms of their names, as both exist in different records. Martha's parents were Johann/Jan Kaminski and Johanna/Joanna Bilska of Fordon. Her siblings were
Johann/Jan: 1891 - 1815 (died in Russia)
Helene/Helen: 1893-1968; married August Fix (died in Minneapolis, MN)
Marianna Louise: 1896 - probably died in infancy
Anne Marie, who was baptized Marianna Anna: 1897-1977 (died in Hannover, Germany)
Franz/Franciszek: 1899-1931 (died in Prostken, East Prussia)
