Peter Peterson married first Carrie Holm, who died in 1877 in childbirth and is in buried next to Peter's parents in Maiden Rock, WI; he married second, Emma Olina Aamodt, who is buried next to him. Peter and Ella were married in Rush River Lutheran Church near Martell, WI, and Peter became the postmaster there. They later migrated to Faulk Co., SD, as did several of Peter's siblings, and Peter worked again as postmaster; however, before 1890 they had returned to Wisconsin. By 1904-5, they were established in Swanburg, MN, where they farmed and, until it burned, operated the Swanburg Hotel. Peter was also the Swanburg postmaster. They were the parents of nine children: Carrie, Ida, Oscar, Amelia, Mabel, Alice, Clarence, (George) Marvin and Nora.
