Mrs Betty Broome Millwood,45, wife of Jack E.Millwood of 115 Greenbriar Drive, Rutledge Acres, died Sunday at 11:05 in Cherokee County Memorial Hospital afterfour years of declining health and two months of serious illness.

A lifelong resident of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Forrest B. Broome and Mrs. Clara Gaffney Broome Willis. She was a member of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Millwood was treasurer of the Gaffney Lions Auxiliary, owner of the Little Moo Restaurant; co-owner of the Gaffney Bakery and orqanizer and treasurer of the Retarted Citizen Association. Her husband is vice chairman of the S.C Appalachian Council on Governments.

AIso surviving are one son, Eddie Millwood; one brother, James N. (Jim) Broome Sr.; one sister, Mrs. E.V. Stephens; stepfather, Basil Willis of Panama City, Fla.; four stepbrothers - Robert, Horace and C. D. Willis, all of Panama City, Fla., and Ennis Willis of Enterprise, Ala.; two stepsisters, Mrs. R. E. ;Metcalf of Dotham, Ala., and Mrs. Roscoe Green of Eufala, Ala.

Services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church conducted by Revs. Stuart Kersey, Sidney Norton and W. D. Farr with burial in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Collis Kirby, Henry McAlister, James Eldridge, George Seaborn, Dr. W. K. Brumbach, Henry Alexander, Max Shirley and James N. Broome Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wilmon and Julian Wright, Les Roark, Joe Biggerstaff, Harry Cline, Alvin Caldwell,

W. K. Gunter, Dr. L. M: Rosemond; James Compton, Jim Agnew, Bob Jones, Gene Taylor, J. L. West, Richard Farrell, George Wright. Donald Bridges, Dr. Ronald Barrett, Oscar Fuller. William Hammond, members of the Jack Millwood Sunday School Class of Cherokee Avenue Baptist Church, officers and directors of the Gaffney Board of Public Works and First Piedmont Federal Savings and Loan Association.

Body will remain at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home and be placed in the church Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Family will receive friends: tonight from 7-9 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cherokee County Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Cherokee County Retarded Citizen’s Association.
