Lucy Mae Bennett Chisom, 90, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011.

She was born on August 24, 1920, the daughter of the late Rush Thomas Bennett and Eula Gay Houchins Bennett.

Her husband, Harry Edward Chisom, preceded her in death.

She was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church.

Surviving are her three children, Sherman Lewis Chisom and wife, Kay, of Dallas, Texas, Gayle Lynn Honts and husband, Eddie, of Roanoke, and Melvin Keith Chisom and wife, Shelby, of Roanoke; brother, Charles H. Bennett and wife, Shirley, of Salem; five sisters, Gladys B. Burdette and husband, Mark, of Trussville, Ala., Evelyn B. Sledd, of Roanoke, Virginia B. Smith, of Roanoke, Dorothy B. Hogan and husband, George, of Roanoke, and Connie B. Pharr and husband, Cecil, of Tucker, Ga.; five grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. David Jones and the Rev. Robert Lanier officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
