Clyde Arwood (died August 14, 1943) He was the only person ever executed by the United States Federal Government in Tennessee. He was convicted for killing a federal agent during a moonshine raid. Murdering of a federal employee is a federal capital crime. Arwood was put to death by electric chair in Tennessee State Penitentiary in Nashville. He was 41 at time of his death. Arwood was the last federal inmate executed under administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
