Littleton L. "Bud" Ballou, 77, of Ord died on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Valley County Health System in Ord. Bud was born on June 16, 1933, in Indianola to Littleton L.,I and Jeanette (Deveny) Ballou.

Bud married Addie Kalinski on Feb. 12, 1956, in McCook. She preceded him in death.

Survivors are: sons and daughter-in-law, Russ Ballou of Grand Island and Jon and Sharice Ballou of Lynden, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Curt Stillman of Downingtown, Pa., and Rhonda and Mike Smith of Hastings; grandchildren, Adelyn Stillman, Cassandra and Lucas Ballou and Mariah and Leah Smith.

Bud was born and raised on the family farm and graduated from Red Willow High School and attended McCook Community College. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954.

Bud and Addie moved to Lincoln, where he worked for Seal-Rite Window Manufacturing Co. In 1960, they moved to Ord, where he began his construction business until his retirement. He was active in many community organizations, including the Volunteer Fire Department, the school board and the planning commission. Bud enjoyed fishing, playing chess, reading, visiting with friends and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, MaryLou Pew; several beloved sisters and brothers-in-law; and his basset hound, Pokey.
