Martha Ann Bowen Oldham

CARTHAGE, MO — Martha Ann Oldham "Winder", age 86, of Carthage, Mo., passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital, Carthage.

Martha was born on May 10, 1924 in Carthage, to Earnest and Corda (Harrill) Bowen.

Martha was a homemaker, seamstress and waitress, having worked for Judy's Café in Jasper.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Carthage, Jasper Chapter of the Eastern Star, Carthage B.P.W. and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Martha was united in marriage to Charles Oldham on Sept. 5, 1942, in Carthage. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1992.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Oldham and wife, Jeanelle, of Carthage; two daughters, Jane Goodson and husband, Roy and Alice Swindle and husband, Richard, both of Carthage; one brother, W.R. Bowen, of Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters, Mary Simmons and Virginia Ball, both of Carthage; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Oldham; and one sister, Nancy Sparks.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Mo.

Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery, south of Jasper.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 30, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Weng Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to Carthage Can Do Center or the Ronald McDonald House in care of the funeral chapel.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.
