Son of Wilbur Harmon and Dorine Oneida Scattergood Creighton.

NORTH AUGUSTA - Wilbur H. Creighton, Jr., 20, hospital apprentice (fc), USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur H. Creighton, Sr. of North Augusta, has been killed in action in Okinawa, according to a message received by his parents from the Navy Department. There were no details.

The announcement of the death of the popular young man caused much sadness among his many friends throughout his community and Augusta where he as well known.

The youth went through the Normandy Invasion on D-Day after which he was given a furlough for 30 days, which he spent with his parents. He was later assigned to the marine reserve as a medical corpsman last November, and in April he again went to sea. His parents last heard from him about a month ago. He was attached to the 1st Marine Division.

Young Creighton graduated from North Augusta High School and entered Clemson College where he completed one year of study. He left Clemson at the age of 18 to enter the navy. He was an active member of the Saint Paul's Episcopal Church here.

His father, a veteran of World War I, is one of Augusta's leading produce salesman.

Besides his parents. young Creighton is survived by a sister, Miss Dorine Creighton and a brother, Charlie Creighton, on duty on an LST, somewhere in the Pacific.
