Sadie was active at the Grace Methodist Episcopal Church as a deaconess and worked as a policewoman for the city of Indianapolis. She was among the very first women hired by the police to specifically work with women. Sadie never married, she owned a house on Johnson Ave. in the Irvington area and did much work among the poor in the city. Sadie died of cancer in 1940.
