Born Joseph Carpenter to Edward and Helen Carpenter of Worcester, MA on May 24, 1925.

Baptized into the Roman Catholic faith on June 14, 1925.

Health had always been a problem for Brother Norbert and Chicago, with its gusty weather, was no exception. His asthma kicked up off and-on, and he was looking forward to being sent to a warmer climate where he could regain some of his
strength. On Oct. 24, 1958 he suffered a severe asthma attack and passed away in his room at St. Clara's. The news of his death came as a shock to everyone in the Province and especially his classmates who knew him so well.
