SPRINGFIELD - Lynn E. Baird, 75, of Springfield passed away Friday, September 11, 2009, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
He was born July 5, 1934, in Chicago, the son of the late Edward and Lorraine (Carlson) Baird. He married Rose Ann Schuman on September 24, 1955, in Chicago.
Mr. Baird served with the Illinois State Police, retiring as Superintendent. After retiring he served with the Illinois Attorney General's Office and Illinois Commerce Commission. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Illinois Chiefs' of Police Association. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era.
Mr. Baird was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Ann Baird of Springfield; daughter, Lee Ann (husband, Tim) Knapp of Crete; a son, Dennis (wife, Eloise) Baird of Springfield; also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Timothy and Michael Knapp and Daniel and Kathryn Baird.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
