My father attended school at Glen Alpine, NC.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War, he became a welder after leaving the Navy. He loved football, baseball, country music, the TV show Hee Haw and Nascar. He and my mother were not perfect parents, they made mistakes, they had bad tempers and I got more than my share of beatings but Ted was the only person that ever said 'I Love You' to me when I was young. He also taught me to pray before going to sleep. I think I realize now I was sort of punished by Ted and Katie for being born. I doubt they would have married if it weren't for me. I still feel a lot of guilt for ruining their lives.

Ted and Katie were married on her birthday in 1958, he sang Tom Dooley to her on the way to get married.
He suffered a massive heart attack on Friday night October 10th, he was pronounced dead at Presbyterian Hospital on October 11, 1986 shortly after midnight.
He and my mother had 1 child together, Joe. They raised me (Patti) from the age of two.

UPDATE: I did a DNA test in June 2019 at 2 different places and discovered Ted Hipps isn't my biological father. My dna matches 'William Edward Ogburn' but he refused to accept this news. Ogburn's children show up as half siblings.
