BENTON -- Ann Christine Larrabee Greenleaf of Benton passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Maine General Medical Center, Thayer Campus in Waterville.
She was born in Gardiner on Sept. 25, 1934, the daughter of the late Llewellyn Everett and Mary Alice (Dunville) Larrabee.
Ann was employed by the Veterans Affairs hospital in Togus for 28 years. She was a lifetime member and past matron of the Merry Meeting Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Heart of Maine Squares.
Ann loved playing Scrabble, especially with her sister Edna; playing cards; playing Kismit; hooking rugs; and just spending time with her family. Every Sunday afternoon in the fall she could be found watching and cheering on the New England Patriots. She was a special, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband and father of all her children, Earl L. McLaughlin; her second husband, Donald R. Nelson; and her third husband, John Greenleaf.
Ann will be deeply missed by her children, Stephen E. McLaughlin and his wife, Linda, of Winthrop, Sherry L. McLaughlin of Winslow, Billie J. Cole and her husband, G. Leonard, of Benton, Susan G. Smith and her husband, James L., of Greenville, Peter J. McLaughlin and his wife, Barbara, of Benton, Michael A. McLaughlin and his wife, Pamela, of Winslow, and Mary A. Lagrange and her husband, Mike, of Waterville; her grandchildren, Shawn Michael McLaughlin of Chandler, Ariz., Daniel Stephen McLaughlin and his wife, Tammy, of Mount Vernon, Christopher Gene McLaughlin and his wife, Sarah, of Bowdoinham, Matthew David McLaughlin of Gardiner, Lenny Bruce Cole and his wife, Michelle, of Benton, William Joseph Cole and his wife, Heather, of Somerville, Mass., Michelle Leigh Garner and her husband, Chris, of Gray, Michael David Clark and Jess Lyon of Waterville, Melissa Sue Hackett of Sabattus, Peter Jon McLaughlin Jr. and Katie Gorham of Oakland, Kathryn Ann McLaughlin of Winslow, and Michael Andrew McLaughlin of Winslow.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Michaela McLaughlin of Bradford, Micah McLaughlin of Mesa, Ariz., Chase Daniel McLaughlin of Mount Vernon, Luke Raymond McLaughlin of Mount Vernon, Elliot Reese Pepin of Auburn, William Parker Cole of Benton, Payton Lenn Cole of Benton, Emerson James Hackett of Sabattus, Reid Peter Warren Garner of Gray, and four more on the way; her siblings, Merton Llewellyn Larrabee of Gardiner, William Joseph Larrabee and his wife, Judy, of Brunswick, Edna Alice Louise Haskell and her husband, Laurence, of Randolph, Thomas Eugene Larrabee of Gardiner, and Everett Edward Larrabee and his wife, Barbara, of Mansfield, Ohio; her godchild, Kimberly Ann Dudley of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
