Otto Therkelsen, Sr., age 74, passed away July 10, 1992 at the VA Hospital following a massive heart attack after many months battling a lingering illness.
Otto was born March 25, 1918 in Smithfield, Utah, son of Edwin Arthur and Martine Laurine Fonnesbeck Therkelsen. Married Lela Mary Kendall May 18, 1940; later divorced. Otto was a proud veteran of World War II serving a tour of duty in the Philippines and Manila. Retired carpenter--43 years--Local #184. He loved to square dance, proving this he was a member of the Salt Shakers, the Rocketeers, Electric Square, and many other dance clubs. Member of the FOE #67, the American Legion Post #008, and the VFW, Post # 4355. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing.
Survived by his three children and their spouses, Laurine and Clifton Hardman, Chino Valley, Ariz.; Otto and Linda Therkelsen, Jr., Taylorsville; Karla and Terry Baum, Salt Lake City; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; also a very special friend, Cherie Guiver. Preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edwin; a sister, Elna Felt; and an infant grandson, Jason Baum.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 13, 1992, 11 a.m., at the Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State, Sandy. Friends may call Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services Monday. Interment, Lake Hills Cemetery.
