Daryl Joseph Bugbee, 39, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, with his beloved family and friends at his side, Sunday, January 30, 2011, at Carolina East Hospital.

Daryl was born in Claremont, New Hampshire, February 12, 1971, the son of Leland S. and Sadie M. (Tillery) Bugbee. He was a graduate from Scarborough High School, Scarborough, Maine, the Class of 1989. He joined the U.S. Army immediately following graduation, and became a member of the Corps of Engineers out of Fort Carson, Col. He was honorably discharge in 1992 and began his continuing education. He pursued his passion for engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology where he earned two associates degrees – Engineering and Computer Science. He moved to Florida to continue his education with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and completed his Bachelor's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

Upon graduation from Embry-Riddle, he was recruited by The Aerostructures Corp. in Nashville, Tenn. Then in 2000, he accepted a position at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station with the Naval Aviation System Team as an aero-structure engineer.

His real passion was music. He was blessed with a natural ability to play guitar. He excelled in writing and playing music and sharing with those around him. He was a member of three bands; Erosion X, Desperate Cry, and Flock of Mullets. He enjoyed all genres of music but was a Metal head at heart.

His hobbies included building and flying model airplanes, motorcycles, ice and roller hockey, and war hammer games. He loved his cockatiels also known as his kids, Guido and Vinny. He had a strong commitment to family and friends. His friendships were all lifelong and all became part of his extended family.

In addition to his parents of Scarborough, Maine, Daryl is survived by his two brothers Edward J. and his wife Nancy Bugbee of New Hampshire, and Christian J. and his wife Jennifer Bugbee, and his sister Bethannie J. Bugbee, both of Tennessee. He is further survived by his nephew James E. Bugbee. Daryl was loved dearly, and will be greatly missed by his "Cherry Point extended family" and numerous close friends who consider him family. He was predeceased by his nephew Brandon M. Bugbee.

Memorial Services for Daryl will be held at Cherry Point Marine Base Chapel, Wednesday morning, February 2, 2011 at 10 a.m. Funeral services with full military honors will be held from the Robert K. Gray, Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road Hampton, New Hampshire. Interment in the family lot High Street Cemetery Hampton, New Hampshire.
