MERIDEN - John F. Adamik, 74, of Parker Avenue South, beloved husband of Shirley Dehnel Adamik, died Saturday, May 5, 2000, at home after a long battle with multiple sclerosis, with his loving family by his side.

John was born May 26, 1925, in Meriden, the son of the late Andrew and Victoria (Horozny) Adamik. He was retired from Northeast Utilities after 36 years of service. John loved music and played piano for area bands.

Besides his wife of 54 years, Shirley, he is survived by two sons, John and his wife, Mary Adamik of Byfield, Mass. and Daniel and his wife, Jane Adamik of Meriden; two daughters, Linda and her husband, Patrick Nestor of Middlebury and Karen and her husband, C.J. Peruti of Wallingford; one very special aunt, Margaret Skorupski of New Britain; and nine cherished grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, May 9, at 9 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church, 82 Akron St., Meriden. Burial will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Szymaszek-Taylor Funeral Home, 189 E. Main St., Meriden on Monday, May 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 705 N. Mountain Rd., Suite G102, Newington, CT 06111-1411 or in John's memory to St. Stanislaus Church, Boiler Fund, 82 Akron St., Meriden, CT 06450.

In gratitude, the family would like to thank Dr. Lewis Levin for his many years of great care and support and the Franciscan Home Care for their support during his final days.
