PVT CO G 29 NC INF - CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY

Hello!
I have some additional information for you regarding the memorial for Pinkney A Honeycutt. Pinkney enlisted as a Private in Company G, 29th North Carolina Infantry, Confederate States Army on July 26, 1861. He completed his service and mustered out on Dec 24, 1862. So his date of death is sometime after 1862. If I am able to find it, I will forward the information to you.
That other headstone for him, with his name spelled incorrectly, must have been done by someone doing family research; maybe they didn't see this original headstone and decided to have one made??

Name: Pinkney A. Honeycutt Rank: Private Company: G
Pickney enlisted on 26 July 1861 at a young age 17 or 18 in Yancy Co. NC. He was captured at Richmond Ky. on 27 Oct. 1862. Transported to Vicksburg for exchange. He had become very ill. He was sent to Mobile Ala. and is found in the General Hospital there. He is discharged by Surgeons Certificate on 24 Dec. 1862. He is paid $130.86. He had a relative, Noah Honeycutt who entered the same day in the same unit. It is odd that Noah was discharged at Beam's Station Tenn by Surgeons Certificate also because of poor health.
