He was born January 6, 1930 in View, Idaho, to DeWayne Anderson and Josephine Smith. He proudly served his country in the USAF during WWII & the Korean War. He married Jennis Laverne Stevens on August 19, 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They spent their early years in Rexburg where DeVaun earned his bachelors degree in microbiology from Rick College in 1956. He worked as the General Manager at Rhodes Cold Storage and Challenge Foods, Okay's Grocery, Purringtons Market and finally at Walmart as a greeter until his health forced him to retire. He served on the Board of Directors for Camp Tendoy, Campfire Girls, and Idaho Public Television where he proudly served for the past 35 years. DeVaun was an active member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in several callings including executive secretary, high priest group leader, and many more.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Carey of Pocatello, ID; sons, Kevin (Tena) Anderson of Blackfoot, ID and Troy (Sue Ann) Anderson of Colorado Springs, CO; four grandchildren, Kozzette (Matt) Bennett, of Boise, ID; and Troy J. Anderson, Noah S. Anderson, and Joey D. Anderson of Faith, SD; great-grandson Matt E.D. Bennett, Jr. of Boise, ID; brother, Wayne (Coleen) Anderson of Twin Falls, ID; sister, Laura (John) Gerstner of Ten Sleep, WY. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jennis, after 52 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; DeWayne and Josephine Anderson, brother, Jerald Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb 9, at 11 a.m. at the Pocatello North Stake, 4890 Whitaker Rd., Pocatello. Interment will be in the Declo Cemetery.
