Mrs. Dora Marie Pack, 98, of Inman, Kansas, and formerly of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 10:10 PM, Saturday, July 14th, 2007 peacefully at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas.

Dora Marie Heidebrecht Pack was born June 11, 1909, near Inman, Kansas to Judge J.J. and Margaret (Franz) Heidebrecht. Dora was the oldest of six children born to this union, five daughters and one son: Dora, Hulda, Ralph, Alice, Ruth, and Martella. Dora's childhood years were spent in Oklahoma and Kansas. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1929. Dora was baptized on December 19, 1926 and became a member of the First Presbyterian Church and remained a faithful lifetime member.

On October 8, 1941, Dora was united in marriage to Roth Wilson Pack of Moundridge, Kansas. The couple established their home in McPherson. Dora's working career was spent in the McPherson County Court House Probate Court as Clerk and Judge Pro-Tem for thirty-nine years. Dora worked for four judges, including her father, which she considered a great honor.

Dora was a devoted Christian, a loving and caring wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Having had the responsibility helping with five younger siblings, Dora was very organized and meticulous in everything she did. She was the family historian and information source, always remembering family and friends birthdays and special occasions. Although Dora and Roth had no children of their own, they took special interest in their families and nieces and nephews. They had an especially close bond with niece Judy Pigott Casebeer Kennedy and nephew Gary Pigott who lived next door.

Dora had many hobbies and interests. She belonged to several clubs and the McPherson Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining in their home, needlepoint, traveling and going on tours with Roth, and collecting cups and saucers, spoons and angels from different places on their travels. Together they enjoyed visiting family and their many friends and other relatives. Dora and Roth did everything together for sixty-two and a half years when Roth became ill and passed away on May 22, 2003, leaving Dora to mourn. Dora's health deteriorated rapidly and on Saturday, July 14, 2007 she too, went to her eternal rest at the age of ninety-eight years. Dora was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Ralph Heidebrecht, and sisters, Hulda Stafford, and Martella Olson.

Dora was blessed with a good life, well lived and leaves to mourn, her sisters, Ruth Nielsen and her husband Verner, of Inman, Kansas and Alice Esau, of Inman, Kansas; her sister-in-law, Isabel Chambers of McPherson, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m with family present from 6 to 8 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
