DIX, Anthony Joseph Age 94, lifelong member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Old North Dayton passed away at St. Leonard Center January 27, 2011.

Anthony, the middle son of nine children, was born March 15, 1916 to Nicholas and Johanna Dix. Together with his six brothers and two brothers-in law at N. J. Dix & Son's Construction Co. they built and remodeled many homes in the North Dayton area. Anthony was very proud of his carpentry work and continued using his skills long after retiring helping people "fix" things in their houses. Anthony's visits while fixing were often the highlight of their day.

He was preceded in death by his wife Veronica (Reboulet) of 67 years, son Tony, daughter Theresa Aikins, brothers and sisters-in-law Al (Verona), Nick (Charlotte), Bert (Shirley), John (Dorothy), Chris (Naomi), and Frank; sisters and brothers-in-law Francis (Junie Rosenkrantz), Johanna (Steve Grant), and granddaughter Regina Stephens.

Survivors include: sister-in-law Phyllis Dix, daughters Annette (Gene) Casella of Dayton, Catherine (Peter) Herndon of New Hampshire; sons Joseph (Jody) of NagsHead, NC, John of Dayton; four grandchildren Carla (John) Hodulik, Maria (Vince) Russell, Amy and Erin Herndon, nine great grandchildren, special niece Patricia Dix and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. A loving husband and grandfather, Anthony will be missed by his family and by his friends at St. Leonard Center.

The family is grateful for the kindness and help from the staff at St. Leonard and from Hospice of Dayton. A memorial Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in celebration of his life and of the legacy of this wonderful Dix family will be on Saturday, March 12, 10 AM, the weekend of Anthony's 95th birthday. A reception will follow the Mass in the Church basement.
