The Certificate of Birth for Henry Sanders Jr born at Coachella Valley Hospital in Indio lists: Velma Juleta Williams, age 16yrs on date of birth Dec 7 1937, father Henry Sanders Sr age 24 both residing in Indio CA both born in Oklahoma; he a mechanic with the railroad for the last 2 yrs, she a housekeeper in own home for last 6 mos.
My mother Vernis (her half sister, different fathers), remembers Henry Jr's 4th birthday party being saddened by the attack on Pearl Harbor. Mom would have been just 11 yrs old.
Henry Sanders Sr went into service in WW2 and died in France, according to the back of a photo.
Henry's family said she was not able to care for her son as a young widow and took permanent care of Henry Jr. That was the last he was seen by my family. I would love to re-establish contact.
Velma wound up in South Dakota married to Anthony Lawrence Arens and had 2 daughters with him, Virginia and Veronica. In January 1949, she left the house in a car in the snow. The car stalled and she tried to walk for help, but was overcome by exposure to cold and was found dead a short distance from home. I was named for her.
Her daughters were separated - the youngest, Veronica, to be raised by her father's parents in SD. Virginia was originally to be raised by her maternal grandmother, Mary Veola, but within a year went to live with her uncle Fred & aunt Margie Williams as her adoptive parents, in Calif.

her sister: Vernis Marie Andrews Hammer Drake Lawrence- Find A Grave Memorial# 28092255
