Sylvester Gilbreath, 84, of Dora, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Dora Church of God with burial in Davis Cemetery. Rev. Randy Beck will officiate. Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton is handling arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today, June 6, 2010, at the funeral home.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a POW.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Crauswell Gilbreath; parents, Vester and Ruth Browning Gilbreath; brothers, William Gilbreath, Alin Gilbreath, and Robert Gilbreath; sisters, Bessie Salter and Joyce Traywick.
He is survived by his sons, Randall Gilbreath and his wife Kathy of Dora, Robert "Bubba" Gilbreath and his wife Joyce of Dora, and Robert "Robby" Gilbreath of Dora; grandchildren, Daniel Gilbreath, Jordan Gilbreath, and Jonathan Gilbreath, all of Dora, and Gina Mann and her husband Adam of Bagley; great-grandchildren, Logan Mann and Payton Mann, both of Bagley; sisters, Dean Wood of Dora, Annette Ray of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Mary Lemley of Cullman, Patricia Hodges of Bagley, Fay Box and her husband Jerry of Dora, and Linda Robinson and her husband Austin of Dora; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
