Verna E (Wilday) Kupfer was born July 21, 1884 in Morgan County, Illinois to Roland and Clara Belle (Webster)Wilday. She was their first born out of six children. Her siblings were: Della (Wilday) Pine, Dean P. Wilday, Alma Jane Wilday, Ray Wilday, and William Russell Wilday. She married the love of her life, Otto D Kupfer, in 1902, Together they bore and raised 5 children: Ina (Kupfer) Hamman, Bernice (Kupfer) Ferguson, Lois (Kupfer) Cannon, Lillian (Kupfer) Fisher, and Robert Kupfer. She was an excellent seamstress who did not need a pattern to produce expertly made clothing. In addition, she was a wonderful cook and baked pies that she would sell around town from a little wagon for 25 cents/each. She also served as a midwife.
