Jerry's life began Nov. 29, 1956, in Elkhart, the son of Ralph and Bernice (Truex) Laymon.
His loving family includes his children, James, Jason and Jenna Laymon, all of Dowagiac; his parents, Ralph and Bernie Laymon of Dowagiac; and his sisters, Sue and her husband Rich McCormick of Dowagiac, and Sally and her husband Gordon Biggs of Fayetteville, N.C.
His family will gather with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Groner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 301 Main St., Dowagiac, where his funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Bill Dobblestein of Dowagiac First United Methodist Church will officiate. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac.
Jerry was a 1975 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School. He was a partner and glass glazier at the Dowagiac Glass Company. He was a member of the Dowagiac Moose Lodge, Dowagiac Eagles Aerie and the Dowagiac Conservation Club. He loved to go hunting and fishing and generally being outdoors. Jerry also was a very accomplished woodworker.
Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be given to the Laymon Children's Educational Fund in care of the Fifth Third Bank in Dowagiac.
