DEATH OF MRS. DAVID CHAMBERS - Huntington Democrat, Thurs, 22 April,
1886
Elizabeth, wife of David Chambers, died at their residence in
this place (Markle) Sunday, April 18th, aged 52 years, 1 month and 11
days. Death was caused by a combination of lung and billious fever. On
Tuesday, the remains were borne from the house and followed to South
Side Church by a large circle of friends where the funeral sermon was
conducted by Rev. Waltman of Kendalville, after which the remains were
taken and interred at Mount Horeb cemetery, two miles up the river from
this place. Mr. Chambers is left alone without son or daughter to share
the sad affliction caused by the death of his estimable companion but
has kind brothers and sisters ever ready to administer to his wants and
solicitations. The entire town will sadly miss the deceased as she was
not only a faithful friend to her companion but likewise to all who knew
her. Mr. Chambers in his sad bereavement has the heartfelt sympathy of
the entire community.
