JACK EDWARD BALLENGER

Jack Edward Ballenger, 76, of Sulphur died Dec. 27. Services were Dec. 30 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Swain officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ballenger was born Feb. 22, 1920, in Sulphur. His parents were James E. and Lillian (Medlock) Ballenger. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1938. He had owned and operated Ballenger's Furniture Store. He also operated the Mistletoe Express and had worked at Cooper Auto for several years. Ballenger married Emma Stout on Nov. 18, 1951, in Sulphur. He was a retired Volunteer Firemen and a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and led music for many years. Ballenger was also an Army veteran of World War II. He was a charter member and past president of Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and VFW. He had served as past president of Sulphur PTA. Ballenger had lived in Sulphur most of his life.

Survivors include his wife of the home, three daughters, one son and seven granddaughters.
