Funeral rites will be held tomorrow morning at St. Dominic's Catholic church here, for Joaquin Machado Medina, who died early Tuesday at his home northwest of Orland, after a long period of ill health. He was born on July 15, 1890, in the Azores, and came to California 50 years ago. He had been a dairy rancher here for 16 years, coming to Orland from Humboldt County. He was a member of two Portuguese lodges, the UPEC and the IDES.
Fr. A. J. Dosch will conduct a requiem mass at 10 A.M. . tomorrow in the Catholic church, to be followed by burial in the Catholic cemetery. A rosary will be held tonight at 8:30 in the Sweet mortuary chapel.
Medina is survived by his wife, Gertrude; four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Lourenco, Mrs. Mary Simons and Mrs. Ruby Simmons, all of Orland; and Mrs. Albertina McCann of San Francisco.* There is one sister, Mrs. Maria Teixeira, of San Francisco, and two brothers, Frank Medina of San Diego and John Medina of the Azores.
