John Bourdon, Pioneer, Dies
Had Lived in Muskegon 85 Years Since One Year Old
John B. Bourdon, 86 years old, 1312 Sanford street, a pioneer resident of Muskegon, died yesterday at his home following and illness of three weeks. A resident of Muskegon for 85 years, Mr. Bourdon saw the transformation of the city from a lumbering center to an industrial area which is now an important point in the United States war production program.
Born April 6, 1856, in Albany, N.Y., Mr. Bourdon came to Muskegon with his parents when he was one year old and lived here until death. He was educated in local schools and married Olympe Houle here July 2, 1878. Mrs. Bourdon died July 25, 1920.
Mr. Bourdon was a member of St. Jean Catholic church and of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
Surviving are eight sons, Adrian S. employed at the Square, Alfred, Norman, Ivan, Earl, Russell and Stanley, all of Muskegon and Roy, of Jackson; four daughters, Mrs. George Bouchard, of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Florence Charron, the Misses Etta and Delia Bourdon of Muskegon; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Flanders, of Muskegon township and Mrs. Rose Morin of Bailey; 41 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
