Dewey was born May 4, 1912 at Cherokee to Earl Leslie and Lillie May Vandruff Linfoot. He grew up in Cherokee where he attended school.

He and Ruby Jantz were married March 31, 1942 at Tulsa. She preceded him in death.

He had owned Dewey's Candy and Gift Store in Cherokee for over 30 years. He was also a volunteer Santa and collector of memorial funds for Cherokee residents. Much of what he did was geared toward children, like his annual work at a children's camp and his Fourth of July Fireworks Stand.

He had delivered the Grit newspaper for over 50 years. He no longer drove, but peddled his bicycle all over town.

He was a member of the Nazarene Church and the Senior Citizens Center.

Surviving are two daughters; Gay Penner and her husband Harold of Fairview and Joy Ware and her husband Scott of Alva; one son, Grady and wife Joyce of Lemon Grove, CA; one grandson Eric Ware: three granddaughters, Sondra Penner, Anna Linfoot and Amy Ware; two sisters, Opal Caywood (Everett) of Cherokee and Arlene Wilcox (Grover) of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Doyle of Long Beach, California and Corkey of Tecumsuh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Faun and Don; and three sisters, Elvadeen Cushenberry and twin sisters Nette Odetta and Nida Nadene.
