John A. Beckler was born in Germany about 1847. He immigrated in 1867 and was naturalized. He was a Lutheran. He worked as a laborer in a lumber yard. He married Mary Ann Riedel (born in East Saginaw) in about 1873. They stayed in Saginaw for the remainder of their lives, raising their children there.
Five of their children are also buried at Forest Lawn: Barbara M. Beckler Prueter; Caroline B. Beckler Prueter; Georgiana M. Beckler McCormick; Katherine Beckler Geitman and Frank C. Beckler.
