Henry Helzer
Henry Helzer of rural Kersey, who lived most of his life in northern Colorado, died Friday, March 8, at Weld County General Hospital. He was 72.
Born in Frank, Russia, August 9, 1901, he came to the United States with his parents in 1906, and was reared in the Windsor area. He married Christine Hahn in 1924. She died in April, 1941. On Feb. 28, 1942, he married Alice B. Wells at Fort Collins. Helzer was a farmer.
He was a member of St. Paul's Congregational Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mrs. Alice B. Helzer, are five sons and two daughters; Leland Lutz of Fresno, Calif.; Willard Helzer of Eaton, Darwin Helzer of Kersey; and Russell and Burdette Helzer, both of Greeley; Mrs. Luella Kauffman of Gilcrest; and Mrs. Ruth Seader of Westminster; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was the stepfather of Robert Gay or Arizona; Mrs. Margaret Lang of Longmont; Mrs. Mary Keating of Baytown, Tex.; and Mrs. Opal Henning of Concord, Calif. There are 18 step grandchildren and 22 step great grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters and two brothers; Mrs. Louise Schlotthauer of Windsor,; Mrs. Amelia Schamewolf of Evans; Mrs. Henrietta Heckman of Eaton; Mrs. Albert Kling of Denver; Everett Helzer of Broomfield and Albert Helzer of Loveland.
Funeral Arrangement will be announced by the Adamson Mortuary.
