Mrs. Anna Henke Died Last Wednesday
Mrs. Anna Henke passed away at her home at Stanley on Wednesday evening, July 31, after an illness for two and one-half years.
Miss Anna Zorn, daughter of Nick and Johanna Zorn, was born in Buffalo, New York, Oct 24, 1857. On July 2, 1878 she was united in marriage to August Henke and they went to Mazzeppa, Minn., where they made their home for about 10 years.
In 1890 they came to Thorp and settled in the town of Worden. In 1914 her husband passed away and in 1920 she moved to Stanley where she has since made her home.
Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Henke. Two sons preceded her in death, Joseph in 1922 and William about three months ago.
Surviving are six children, Louis and Emil of Thorp and Peter, Anna (Mrs. Henry Driessen), Tillie (Mrs. George Schneider) and Martha, of Stanley. Also 22 grandchildren and two sisters and four brothers.
The funeral was held at 9:00 o'clock on Satuday morning at St. Mary's Church at Stanley, Rev. Francis Wallace officiating. Interment was made in St. Bernard's Cemetery at Thorp.
The pall bearers were six grandsons: Lawrence and Donald Henke, Victor Gordeaux of Holcombe, Henry Gigz of Cornell, Lawrence Weix of Curtiss and Milton Stair of Stanley.
