John David Trotta was one of the ninety-two children and three nuns who parished in the fire at Our Lady of the Angels School on Chicago's West Side, on December 1, 1958. John was in room 211 of the school. The fire prompted nationwide fire safety reform in American schools. John David was 13 years old when he died in room 211 of the school, of asphyxiation (smoke inhalation). Queen of Heaven Cemetery is also the location of a memorial to all those who died in the fire.
