Alfred Joseph McSweeney, 81, of the 100 block of Goldcrest Drive, a retired heavy duty equipment foreman, died Oct. 13, 1992, in a hospital.
Mr. McSweeney was born in Richmond. He retired from the public works department at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen B. McSweeney; three daughters, Mary M. Wisenburg, Margaret M. Floyd and Catherine M. Knowles, all of Chesapeake; two sons, Edward T. McSweeney and Steven F. McSweeney, both of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Margaret M. Gallup of Fairfield, Calif., Elizabeth Deppensmith and Catherine M. Messina, both of San Diego, and Anne M. Miller of Richmond; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Riverside Memorial Park by the Rev. Timothy A. Drake. Friends may join the family at the residence after the service. A Christian wake service will be held at 8 tonight in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Chesapeake Emergency Services.
