Lydia Ontjes, 102, Emery, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Diamond Care Center, Bridgewater. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Emery. Burial will be in Emery Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hettinger-Bittner Funeral Chapel, Emery.

Lydia Ontjes, 102, Emery, SD died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, SD.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Emery. Burial will be in the Emery Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm Monday at the Hettinger-Bittner Funeral Chapel in Emery.
She was born May 14, 1906 in Hanson County to Carl and Lizzie (Plagmann) Mueller. On March 16, 1927 she married Dick Ontjes. They farmed in the Emery and Bridgewater area until Dick's death in 1973. She resided in Emery until 2002 and then became a resident of the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Emery.
She is survived by one brother, Clarence Mueller and wife Betty of Costa Mesa, CA; two sisters, Lila Winkel and Elaine Synhorst of George, IA and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick, two brothers, Art and Wayne Mueller and three sisters, Gertrude Ontjes, Laura Fluth and Goldien Cain.
