Mary Ellen was the daughter of B. L. "Lee" and Faye Meador, who along with three infant siblings preceded her in death. She was born May 6, 1921, in Larned, She attended Southwestern College, Winfield, working as secretary to the dean.
On Feb. 8, 1942 she was united in marriage to Harold W. Deets at her parents' home in Larned. In 1946 they moved to Wichita were she was employed with Beech Aircraft Corp. as secretary to Frank E. Hedrick for 37 years.She retired in 1983.
She served as a board member and secretary to Beech Holdings Inc. and also sat on the board of the Frank E. and Harriet E. Hedrick Found. More recently she was named an honorary trustontiee at Southwestern College. She was a charter member of the East Heights United Methodist Church and of it's Chancel Choir She was a longtime member of the National Secretaries Assn. and Delta Gamma Delta sorority.
Survivors: husband, Harold; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Calvin Zerener of Conway Springs; nephew, Mark Doll of Eugene, Ore.; nieces and spouses, Julie and Chris Vancuren of Conway Springs, Susan and Mike Floyd of Kingman; grand-nephews, Clint, Brent and Brian Vancuren; grandniece, Kristen Floyd; numerous cousins.
