Nancy McElhoes was born to parents John McElhoes and Jane Vanhorn in Pennsylvania.
Nancy had three siblings; Isaiah, Dorcas and Susan.

She married William Dilts(1814-1861) on March 22, 1839 in Indiana County, Pa.

Nancy and William had nine children together: Peter Watson, John Scott, James Coulter II, William Clark, Jane, Agnus, Samuel, Tabitha and Henry Milton.

She is laid to rest with her husband William in Washington Church Cemetery, Rayne Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
