Ersell Carmen Griffin was the son of James Gethro Griffin and his wife, Bertha Courtland Ricks.
Married first Pearl Miller.
Married second Cassie Carawan.
Ersell was actually born June 20, 1904 although his tombstone reads 1902. As a young man Ersell "altered" his age in order to join the military.
Ersell's name was originally spelled Ercell, with a "C", but he felt that is should have been spelled with an "S", so that is how he spelled it. His son, Ercell Carmen Griffin, Jr. never changed the spelling of his name.
Ersell served in the United States Army. He later served in the Royal Canadian Army during World War II.
