Dies Tuesday At Flora;
Final Riles Thursday
FLORA — Final rites for Mrs.
Ellen M. Shirar, 91, will be at
the Carter funeral home at two
o'clock Thursday. The Reverend
George Whipple will officiate and
burial will be in Maple Lawn
cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home.
Her death at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday
occurred one day before her
92nd birthday in the Rest-More
nursing home. She had been ill
four months.
Born in Burlington July 18, 1864,
she was the daughter of William
and Wanda Timmons Pruitt. She
was first married to Stephen F.
Whitesel in 1881. Six years later
he was killed in a sawmill explosion.
In 1898 she married Dr.
Lewis Shirar, who died Oct. 7,
1946.
She was a member of the Flora
Christian Church.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs.
L. W. Reed, Kokomo; one son, C.
S. Whitesel, La Porte; a sister,
Mrs. Fred O'haver of here; six
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
two step-daughters, Mrs.
Maude McNeil and Mrs. Mabel
Holmes, both of here.
