Todd Allan Gardner, 28, passed away suddenly in San Diego, California on Friday, February 4, 2011.

He was born on December 19, 1982 in Houston, Texas, but moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado when he was 3 years old. He attended school in Colorado Springs, including Cheyenne Mountain High School and also St. John's Military Academy in Salina, Kansas. He later moved to Breckenridge, Colorado where he lived for 5 years. In 2009 Todd graduated from Cordon Bleu's prestigious Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona and subsequently relocated to San Diego, California in 2010.

Todd worked as a cook and chef. He loved the kitchen and to invent new recipes for his customers – just give him some strange set of ingredients, and he could come up with a wonderful new dish. Known for moving fast in the kitchen, his nickname was often "Zippy" to his fellow chefs and restaurant personnel. He learned to ski at the former Broadmoor Ski Area when he was only 4. Later he became a snowboarder, which grew to be his passion, and in Breckenridge was often seen on the slopes during the day and then working in a restaurant kitchen in the evening.

He is survived by his mother Sue Ticusan of La Mesa, California, father Dale Gardner of Golden, Colorado, sister Lisa Gardner-Hoefler of Morrison, Colorado, grandmother Alice Gardner of Clinton, Iowa, aunt Jean Kelly of La Mesa, California, and niece Isabella Hoefler of Morrison, Colorado.

His ashes will be brought back to the mountains of Colorado, the place he loved the most and where he dreamed of living again some day.
