Death came peacefully this morning in Public General Hospital to Dr. John Samuel Agar, veteran physician and surgeon of this city. He had been ill for the past two months and had been in hospital for the past few days. Death of Dr. Agar is deeply regreted by his many friends throughout the entire county. He had spent the greater part of his years in this district practising his profession, and he held the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. Dr. Agar was born at Port Hope, son of the late Thomas and Abigail Agar. Following his acceptance into the medical profession, he opened office and practised for 10 years at Dover Centre, then came to this city where he remained active in his profession for 35 years. He retired in 1937.
His wife, who was Louise Darville, and a sister, Blanche of this city survive him.
The remains are resting at his home 200 Grand Avenue W. until Friday morning when they will be taken to the Jahnke and Greenwood Funeral Home for public service at 2 o'clock. Rev. M. Scott Fulton, in absence of Rev. R. Johnston of St. Andrew's United Church, will conduct rites. Internment will be made in the mausoleum of Maple Leaf Cemetery.
