"Funeral of Mrs. Hawes. The funeral of Mrs. M. W. Hawes of Ruth[er]ford, N. J., a daughter of the late Hon. George I. Post of Fair Haven was held from the home of the Misses Stone of 50 Clark street yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The deceased was an estimable lady and was widely known and respected in this section where she spent her girlhood. Rev. O. M. Hilton, pastor of the Universalist church, conducted the funeral service. A rare display of exquisite floral tributes surrounded the casket. Prominent among the designs was an exquisite cross with standard. It was sent from the members of the New York office of the Rochester Lamp company of which Mr. Hawes is the manager. Other beautiful floral designs were sent from friends in Ruth[er]ford, N. J., Brooklyn, New York city, Syracuse, and Auburn. The deceased leaves beside her husband one daughter, Miss Etta Hawes. The bearers were Messrs. Llewllyn Morgan, Willett Brown, Smith Snyder of Syracuse, George B. Turner, Thomas A. McCrea, Henry S. Dunning of this city. The remains were laid to rest in Fort Hill cemetery."
