IVA MARIE HOGAN

Iva Marie Hogan of Beeville, formerly of San Antonio, left this life to be with the Lord on August 17, 2002. She was born on January 24, 1924 to Richard Howard Hunt and Ivy Loftin Hunt, of Choate, TX. She graduated from Kennedy High School in 1941. She enlisted in the US Navy (WAVES) in January 1944, took her basic training at Hunter College in New York, was stationed in Washington D.C., and was discharged in October 1945. She married 2nd Lt. John F. Hogan on Feb. 12, 1945 which began a 57 year odyssey which included attendance at U. of Nebraska and U. of Texas at Austin, raising a family of two girls, sharing a 28 years military life with her family at Ft. Polk, LA, Ft. Knox, KY, Little Rock, AR, Heidelberg, Germany Ft. Riley, KS, Washington DC and St. Louis, MO. She is survived by her husband, COL (Ret) John F. Hogan, Two daughters, Dr. Cynthia Hogan, Amy Stewart and husband Frank, six grandchildren, Catherine Carriger, John Carriger, William Carriger, Thomas Carriger, James Stewart and Tyler Stewart. Sisters, Peaches Davidson and husband John of Pawnee, TX, Ada Brown and husband Tom of Slidel, LA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at 10:00 AM from the Eckols Chapel with the Beeville First Presbyterian Church Interim Minister, Rev. Bruce Fischer. Interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX, with Rev. Dr. Richard Knott and Chaplain Richard Robinson officiating. Pallbearers will be John Carriger, William Carriger, Thomas Carriger, James Stewart, Tyler Stewart, Frank Stewart and John Davidson. Honorary Pallbearers are Cledy Hunt, Leroy Ahrens, Tom Brown, Fred Latcham, Art Richey, B GEN Armin Puck, COLS Lloyd Hanes, Al Hatcher, and Joe Wyatt.
