Mr. Broderick was born on July 4, 1918, in Waterbury, the son of the late John and Mary (Brennan) Broderick. He was a proud World War II U.S. Army veteran, and worked in the U.S. Post Office for over 35 years until his retirement in 1985. He also volunteered at St. Vincent dePaul's Soup Kitchen for many years.
A true Irishman in every sense of the word, Frank loved the music, food and traveling to Ireland. "Danny Boy" would always bring a tear to his eye. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Francis leaves behind to mourn, his beloved daughter, Karen Calabro and her husband, Fred, of Somers; three granddaughters and their husbands: Tracey and Gerald, Lori and Jason, and Amy and Anthony; seven wonderful great-grandsons: Justin, Tyler, Logan, Riley, Aiden, Brady and Cody; his niece, Carol Beach; and his nephew, Gerald Daley. Frank was predeceased by his seven brothers and sisters.
A funeral will be held 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, from the Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury, to Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass at 11 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
