MRS. KOUNS' RITES TODAY
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Drury Kouns, 89, of Chesapeake, who died Sunday night at her home, will be conducted at 2:30 P. M. today at the Schneider Funeral Home at Chesapeake by Dr. James T. Browning. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Ironton. Mrs. Kouns, a former school teacher in Lawrence County, was born at Burlington, O., a daughter of the late Lawson and Louisa Drury. Her late husband, Henry Kouns, worked on steamboats for a number of years and he and Mrs. Kouns made their home in Shreveport, La. They returned to Lawrence County in 1901 and Mr. Kouns owned and operated a farm where the Chesapeake Airport is now located. They sold the farm during the first World War and moved to Chesapeake. Mr. Kouns died several years ago. Mrs. Kouns was a charter member and one of the organizers of the Chesapeake Woman's Club. She served at vice-president of the club for one term, and was historian for a number of years. Mrs. Kouns was a member of the former Kouns Chapel Methodist Church, and later of the Chesapeake Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, Andrew L. Kouns of Huntington; two grandsons, John H. Kouns of Warren, O., and William C. Kouns of Chicago; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Schute of North Kenova, O., one brother, Frank Drury of Jacksonville, Fla., and four great-grandsons. The body is at the funeral home. The family has requested that flowers be omitted.
