Henry grew up on Lembeck Avenue in the Greenville section of Jersey City, NJ. His family moved to Dumont, NJ on East Quackenbush Avenue in the early 1930s. Henry entered the U. S. Army in 1942 and served in the Alaska Communication System, Aleutian Islands, in the 17th VHF Installation Team of the Signal Corps. He was discharged as a Technical Sergeant in 1945. He married Jean Horoszewski on May 26, 1945 at St. Anne's RC Church, Jersey City, NJ. Henry worked for Western Electric in Kearny and Newark, NJ as an electrical engineer. One of his major projects was the transoceanic communications cable between the USA mainland and Hawaii. Raising his family in Dumont, NJ on Dixon Avenue, Henry was very active in the community serving on the Dumont Zoning Board of Adjustment and also numerous roles in building up St. Mary's RC Church, including president of the Holy Name Society and treasurer of their Boy Scout Troop.
