LEETIE BROOKS

Mrs. Leetie A. Brooks, 86, 814 Valverde, died Wednesday at a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the West Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Harold Johnson, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.

Mrs. Brooks was born Jan. 30, 1885 in San Saba, Tex. She was married to the late Wley N. Brooks. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks pioneered several west Texas ranches and later moved to Carrizosa where they also ranched for a number of years. In 1935 they retired to Elkins, Ark.

Since the death of her husband 10 years ago, Mrs. Brooks has made her home in Carlsbad with her daughter, Mrs. J.E. Wheeler, Jr.

Mrs. Brooks was a graduate of the Conservatory School of Music in Waco, Tex., and was an accomplished organist and singer.

Surviving in addition to Mrs. Wheeler are two ther daughters, Mrs. P.P. Zimmerman of Arcadia, Calif., and Mrs. Norma Sjoberg of Pasadena, Calif.; three sons, W.N. Brooks of Ely, Nev., B.J. Brooks of Pinon and T.E. Brooks of Odessa, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. W.E. West of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and a niece, Mrs. Merwin Campbell of Carlsbad.
