News has been received of the death of Mrs. J T Closson of West Lebanon, Maine. She was the widow of Rev. J T Closson who was pastor of the Congregational Church her about 1878.

Mrs. Ellen L. Closson passed away Thursday evening, March 20th, after a short illness. She was born in East Burke, Vt., April 29th, 1846, and was the daughter of Lonson L. and Rumina Hawkins Rice. While quite young her parents moved to St. Johnsbury, Vt. Her girlhood days were spent there and at Fairlee, Vt., where her parents moved at a later date. She was educated in the public schools at St. Johnsbury and the academies at St. Johnsbury and orford, after which she taught school for a time. On Nov. 28, 1867, she was married to Zadock H. Morrison of Lyme, where she resided for several years, later returning to the home of her parents at Fairlee, Vt., where on July 7, 1880, she married Rev. Josiah T. Closson, who was then pastor of the churches at North Thetford and Fairlee, Vt. Later they moved to Salisbury, Vt., and then to St. Johnsbury Center. In 1885 they moved to Center Lebanon and a few years after bought a home at West Lebanon where she was since lived, with the exception of a few years of church work at Truro and New Salem, Mass. Mr. Closson passed away in December, 1911, after a brief illness with pneumonia. She became a Christian in early life and was an ardent worker for the temperance cause, being an officer in the W. C. T. U. both in Vermont and in Maine, where she was one of the first members of the Lebanon W. C. T. U., and retained her interest and enthusiasm for the work to the very last. She leaves two daughters by her first marriage, Mrs. Charles B. Goodwin and Miss Minnie E. Closson; and one by the second marriage, Mrs. Howard A. Johnson; also four granddaughters, Marjorie and Marion Goodwin, Florence and Alice Johnson; and a niece, Mrs. H. E. Merrill of Springfield, Vt. Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Goodwin, Sunday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. A. T. Everett, officiating. There were many beautiful floral tributes from friends and relatives. The funeral arrangements were in charge of Undertaker John Hanscam of Rochester and the interment was in Cold Spring cemetery at East Rochester.

Ellen Louise Closson aged 72 years, widow of Rev. J. T. Closson of West Lebanon, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Charles B. Goodwin in West Lebanon yesterday forenoon following an illness from pneumonia. The deceased was a native of Vermont and had resided in West Lebanon many years. Besides the above mentioned daughter she is survived by another daughter, funeral services will be held eomorrow afternoon afternoon at 1:30 and the burial will be in the Cold Spring cemetery here.

The funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Ellen Closson, widow of the late J. T. Closson, were held at the residence of Charles B. Goodwin in West Lebanon yesterday afternoon, Rev. A. T. Everett, pastor of the Milton Free Baptist Church officiating. There mains were brought here and interred in the Cold Spring cemetery under the direction of Hanscom & McDuffee. The deceased is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charles B. Goodwin, Miss Minnie Closson and Mrs. Jessie Johnson and a son Fred.
