Robert Best,Jr was a mechanic in West Springfield,MA when he enlisted in the Union Army.He enlisted in Co I,10th Infantry Regiment on 21 Jun 1861.Wounded in hand at Fair Oaks,VA,then a POW May 18,1864 at Spottsylvania,VA.Transferred to Andersonville Prison where he became sick and died on Oct. 1,1864.
