Samuel Kardokus Dies After Stroke; Services in Eakly
Eakly, Feb. 9--Services for Samuel J. Kardokus, 67, were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Eakly Methodist church with Rev. L.W. Skaggs and Rev. Clyde Rodolph officiating. Burial was in the Eakly cemetery.
Kardokus died Thursday at the home of his nephew, Ernest Kardokus, three miles north of Eakly. He had been in ill health for several years. He suffered a stroke a year ago and a second stroke Jan. 20.
Born Feb. 11, 1885, in Freelandville, Ind., Kardokus lived in that community until he was 21 years old. he came to Oklahoma in 1907 and lived near Hydro a year before coming to the Eakly community in 1908. He farmed until his health failed. For several years he made his home with his brother, the late Joe Kardokus, and Mrs. Kardokus. For the past year he has lived with his nephew. He joined the Baptist church in Indiana when he was 16 years of age.
Survivors are four brothers, August, Terre Haute, Ind.; David, Evansville, Ill.; Charlie, Fisk, Mo., and Alec, Oklahoma City. August, David and Alec were here for the funeral.
